I am just a student but I empathize with what you say here. My personal preference is a teacher that is on the discipline, firm, truth side! Teachers that hold the postures long and push you to your limits. I had a teacher in Ventura once named Sunny. She was a good example of this. She counted to 9 in the Pranyana!!! It was love at first class! She did not take any #$%^ and really pushed us. Afterward of course, I could have flown home. There's a lot of good teachers like her out there.
But I can see where new students could be put off by that and not understand that it is tough love and really good for you. They are struggling need some gentle, diplomatic accommodation! It would be horrible if they never came back.
It's gotta be a tough balance.
One other unscientific observation I have about teachers - teachers that have a consistent, steady practice are much better than teachers that don't.

It's gotta be hard.
